Sticky Rainbow – Happy Days – Bucket Filled

Activities to have Fun,

Sticky Rainbow

This sticky rainbow experience is such a fun idea, with minimal mess and endless opportunities!

This experience provides opportunities for creative expression, colour recognition, colour mixing, encourages fine motor development and acts as a sensory experience too. My favourite part of this experiences is being able to revisit it over a few days.

If your child is like my son, he likes to revisit activities, consolidating his learning and extending ideas.

  1. Cut a rectangle of contact paper and draw a rainbow as a template on the non-sticky side of the contact. I used coloured markers to indicate and encourage some colour matching, but that’s completely optional.
  2. Cut up some different squares of tissue paper and place into a container.
  3. Find a window and tape up the contact rainbow with the sticky side facing you and peel back the contact backing paper.
  4. Now ask your child to pick up some tissue paper and stick it onto the rainbow. Watch your child create a colourful mural that will catch the sunlight.
